Artist's Comments

Inspired by this song: [link]

It's a drawing of Thor, obviously. I don't think I've ever spent this much time on a drawing before... I really like how it turned out, but crits are of course very welcome.

Mjölnir in this picture is based on a pendant found in Iceland (of which I have a replica). The interlocked horns design on the shield is from the Snoldelev stone in Denmark. The runes on the edges of the "frame" are an Eddic verse about Thor's many names, and the ones on the trim of his mailcoat are just the younger Futhark alphabet repeated over and over. The scenes in the frame are illustrations to various Thor-stories from the Eddas.

EDIT: Replaced with darkened version, as the scan was too light.

Nice!

The goats especially are striking.

I would say that it seems that everybody's legs are a bit short, but on Thor some of that is doubtless because of his clothing, and on the goats because of their fur.

Thanks. :)

Yeah, the idea was that most of the goats' legs would be covered by fur. On Thor, you may be right though. Well, either that or his arms are too long. Hadn't noticed it before, so thanks for pointing it out. :)
